On Aug. 5, 2016, Parkview Care Center in Evansville, Indiana, hosted a blood drive.
“We have had such a success over the past few annual drives that the Red Cross has asked if we could add another drive to our calendar,” said Tammy Belcher, admissions director.
At the August blood drive, more than a dozen associates and visitors gave blood at Parkview Care Center.
“We are a mini blood drive because of the size of our room where the drive is, so our goal is always 12 units of blood,” Belcher explained. “We have in the past two years met or exceeded that goal. We usually have most of our slots taken by people in the community who are looking for a convenient location to donate, and then we always have staff members who are eager to fill in if someone doesn’t show or they can’t donate for whatever reason.”
The next blood drive is scheduled for October.
Belcher added: “It is a wonderful thing when we can be a part of such a great cause and bring in people from the community to our facility.”
